چکیده
A code using the MacCormack scheme modified t o be TVD has been written t o analyze the flow in a magnetohydrodynamic conductivity channel driven by a reflected shock tube with a heated driver. Items considered include the thermodynamic and electrical properties of the potassium-seeded plasma, both with and without a current applied along the flow, and the steady-state test t ime in the channel. An inviscid, quasi-one-dimensional model was used with an electric power flux term included in the energy equation to account for the energy addition of the applied current. I t was determined that , as a consequence of the high temperature ratios across the primary diaphragm in the shock tube, no steady-state window exists in the channel. Conductivity channel investigations revealed that Joule heating effects begin at a channel current of two Amperes and become significant above a current of ten Amperes.

Electrical conductivity channel for a shock tube
The design of an electrical conductivity measurement channel for a shock tube is described. This measurement channel is used for the study of weakly ionized, high-enthalpy flows of gases seeded with alkali salts. The theory for determining the dimensions of the measurement channel and the electrical power supply for the channel is based on Ohm’s law. Data are shown which demonstrate that the ch...

A numerical investigation of forced convection in a channel with hot solid block inside a square porous block mounted on a bottom wall was carried out. The lattice Boltzmann method was applied for numerical simulations. The fluid flow in the porous media was simulated by Brinkman-Forchheimer model. The effects of parameters such as porosity and thermal conductivity ratio over flow pattern and t...

In this paper, crashworthiness characteristics of conical steel tubes stiffened by annular rings and rigid polyurethane foam are investigated. For this purpose, wide circumferential rings are created from the outer surface of the conical tube at some determined areas along tube length. In fact, this method divides a long conical tube into several tubes of shorter length. When this structure is ...

The current study conducted a finite element (FE) and experimental investigation on tubular channel angular pressing as a noble severe plastic deformation technique for producing ultrafine grained and nanostructure tubular components. To examine the effects of the TCAP process on the strain distribution and deformation behavior, FE simulations were employed. The FE results demonstrated that equ...

Equal channel angular rolling (ECAR) process is one of the methods that have been used to make ultra-fine materials by imposing severe plastic deformation. After repeating the process several times, a large effective strain is applied to the sample that can cause decreasing the grain size and improving the mechanical and physical properties of the metal. In this study, thermal conductivity of t...
